On the morning of October 5, 2023, the VNU University of Law, the Institute of State and Law under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, and Aix Marseille University (France) co-organized the Scientific workshop "Tobacco Prevention and Control - Comparative study of French and Vietnamese laws".

 

Attending the Workshop, the University of Law side included A.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Que Anh (Rector), A.Prof.Dr. Trinh Tien Viet (Vice Rector);   A.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh (Dean of the Faculty of Theory and History of State and Law), ... On the other side, the meeting included the participation of Professor. Laurent Sermet (Director, Francophone University Foundation Asia-Pacific Office); Mr. Béla Hegedus (Deputy Counselor in charge of Justice, Legality, Administration, French Embassy in Vietnam); Dr. Nguyen Linh Giang (Institute of State and Law), ... and many other scholars.

 

Speaking at the workshop, Rector Nguyen Thi Que Anh expected the Workshop "Tobacco Prevention and Control - Comparative study of French and Vietnamese laws" to be a forum for scholars to exchange expertise, provide multi-dimensional perspectives, and propose effective legal solutions to contribute to the process of making legal policies on preventing the harmful effects of tobacco. "In addition, this is a great opportunity to promote international cooperation and international publication activities at the VNU University of Law" She added.

 

Having the same opinion as the Rector, Mr. Béla Hegedus said "Currently, promoting international cooperation between French and Vietnamese Universities, especially in the field of law, is a top concern for France. Therefore, the French Embassy is always ready to facilitate cooperative activities between law training institutions of both countries." "The French Embassy is currently launching master's and doctoral scholarship programs to study in France. I look forward to receiving applications from candidates from the VNU University of Law" he added.

 

During the opening session, Prof. Laurent Sermet said he was very happy to be present and participate in the workshop at the VNU University of Law. He appreciated the efforts of the University and co-organizers in organizing this meaningful workshop. Professor Laurent Sermet will co-chair and present at the workshop with the topic "Tobacco prevention and control from the perspectives of international law".
